New Obsession

So, my new OBSESSION is these sugar skulls that one of my friends, meagan legnon, showed to me. At first, I just thought they were cute, but now I catch myself looking for more and more things with the sugar skulls on them; bags, shirts, sunglasses, makeup brushes, etc!!! I love them!! Too CUTE!!!!

My reason for liking them are the complexity to them. A skull in itself is cute, but when you add different unique designs inside, it accentuates each part of the skull. I love the individuality to each sugar skull.. Very inspiring!!

My About Me is Hidden :/

I'm Jade Hatweck, 20yrs. old, and I am currently enrolled in cosmetology school.

Since I was little, I always noticed a spark in me that not everyone has, but I didn't know what the spark was. All through school, I was always the one writing everyone's name all pretty, making signs, decorating posters, painting homecoming signs; I even won the art award in high school!!! I loved and still do love being artistic and creative with everything. I love decorating, sewing, writing, coloring, etc.

I aspire to be a professional make-up artist in "SHOWBIZ." To me, working on TV sets, movie sets, high-fashion photo shoots, etc. just seem so exciting!! I'm a loud, obnoxious, out-spoken, blunt, and spontaneous girl, yet, I am a more of the "behind the scenes" kind of girl. There is just something about making other people feel good about themselves that makes me feel good about MYself.

I have been doing make-up since I was 14 years old. That makes 6+ years total now.I work for a Photographer who is also one of my best friends, Tyler Hebert, an AMAZING CONCEPTUAL/ FASHION PHOTOGRAPHER. (Click his name to view his Facebook and check out his photography) The story is kinda funny! One day, I told him I wanted to come on a photo shoot even if it meant helping out with lighting and whatnot. Well, just my luck, I was in store for a lot more than just helping out with the lighting. The make-up artist scheduled to work the shoot didn't show up. Tyler asked if I would mind attempting the make-up for the shoot, and assured that he could fix any of my mistakes with Photoshop. (In my head I was thinking...I hope you are a pro at photoshop) I did the best I could do at 14 years old. Later, Tyler called me and he complimented my work by telling me that I had natural talent with make-up. I was then inspired! I began researching, watching hundreds of YouTube videos, buying fashion magazines, and doing make-up whenever and on whoever would let me. I automatically became amused with the line of work. Tyler offered a full-time job doing make-up. I accepted without even thinking about it.

First Make-up Ever:
Model: Meagan Thierry

Since then, I have learned a many tricks, secrets and techniques that improve my work. I also have widened my product lines so that I learn the different qualities of each product.  Now, I can no longer see myself doing anything else for the rest of my life.

Seeing clients' faces light up seeing the finished results are so motivating!

Thanks for reading this blog!! I appreciate any comments left below with questions, comments, and requests for blog posts to come. You can also find me on facebook, YouTube, and E-Mail!!!

How to Achieve and Maintain The Perfect Eyebrows

If you have read my recent blog post about my beauty pet peeves, you are aware of my OCD with eyebrows!! (:

To me, ones eyebrow's complete the entire face. Your eyebrows can either make your face look perfectly symmetrical and put together or cause it to look unbalanced and unfinished.

Tools You Will Need:
Eyebrows That Need Grooming (haha!)

Eye Brow Brush

Pencil (Straight Object)

Eyeliner Pencil (For Marking Lines)

Tweezers

OR

Eye Brow Razor

OR

Waxing Kit

Eye Brow or Nail Scissors

Small Angled Make-Up Brush

Matte Eye Shadow Close to the Color of your Hair Color (2 Shades Lighter)

**Before Beginning, make sure you comb and brush your eye brows outward, towards the temples, together**

Four Main Guidelines:

A Guideline- Hold a straight object against your outer nostril and mark a line (with eyeliner or something washable) where the object hits your eyebrow. This is where your eye brown should start.

B Guideline- Hold the straight object to where it is right in front of the pupil. Put a small mark where the object hits your eye brow as well. This is to locate where the arch of your eye brow should be.

C Guideline- Hold the straight object from the corner of the outer nostril to the corner of the eye. Put a mark where the object hits the brow. This is to locate where the brow should end.

D Guideline- Hold the object to the brow where you drew the A guideline mark and the C guideline mark. This is to assure that your brows will be even.

What to do now?:

After All your Guidelines are marked, this is when you are ready to either wax, pluck, or razor your brows. I do recommend if you have never waxed your eye brows before, you get them done professionally. Also, be extremely careful when you do any of these procedures; you DO NOT want to mess up your brows on accident. That would be TRAGIC! I do eye brow shaping if needed, just contact me. Anyways, back to grooming.

Guideline A- You are going to want to remove any extra hair to the left of your mark. (The hair to the left is also know as a "Uni-Brow")

Guideline B- You are going to want to create your arch here. You DO NOT, by any means, want to make this part too skinny.

Guideline C- You are going to want to remove any extra hair to the right of your mark. This is to ensure that your brow is not too long.

When checking Guideline D, this is just too make sure your brow is even,

Now, Remove the hair you wish to remove for the thickness of your brow at  the top and bottom of the brow. You will be able to notice the straggling hairs. Please do not remove too much hair causing super skinny brows, unless, of course, that is your desired thickness.

Shortening Eye Brow Hair:
**This step is optional. If you have never shorten your eyebrow hair before, I recommend you get this done professionally because this could end up disastrous causing your brow hairs to stick straight up or out.**

Now that you have your eye brows ready for shortening, you are going to want to take your eye brow comb/brush brush and comb the hair up and cut the hair that extends past the top of the brown. Then, you are going to comb down and do the same thing throughout the brow from right to left.

Defining the Eye Brows:

You are going to take your angled brush and the matte shadow that is very close to your hair color to fill in the brows. This is a simple step. All you have to do is follow the lining of your brow. You do not want to make the eye brows too dark bringing a lot of attention to them. Some people use eye liner/ eye brow pencils to do this step, but, to me, the shadow has a more natural look.

FINISHED!!

There you have it, follow these steps, and you will hopefully have the "PERFECT" eye brows. Like I said earlier, I do Brown Shaping, and if you are interested, you can contact me several ways that are listed below. Please leave comments, questions, and requests below. I read everything and I am here to help you!!

Below are two videos that I recommend you watch. They are both by my all time FAVORITE make-up artist and ROLE MODEL, Kandee Johnson!!!!! One if for the grooming, and the other video is for defining the eye brows. You can also click her name to visit her blog.
